About That Little Bookshop

Hi, I'm Cassie.

A self-confessed book dragon and the person behind That Little Bookshop - Stafford's only independent bookshop selling new books.

How it all began

The bookshop that Stafford deserved

For as long as I can remember, I've loved books — the sight of them, the feel of them, the smell and gentle flutter of the pages as they turn. Books have always been my safe place.
When I realised that Stafford had no independent bookshop, it genuinely broke my heart. So I decided to do something about it.

"My aim is simple - to provide a safe space to find solace on your down days, and conversation on your better days.

Come in, find a book, sit down and relax."

— Cassie Gerrard, Founder

On my shelves right now

The genres I love — and why you might too

Historical Fiction

Stories rooted in the past with characters that feel achingly real. Always a favourite.

Young Adult

Joyful, fierce, and surprisingly moving. Don't let the label put you off - give them a try.

Translated Fiction

Some of the most extraordinary voices in literature come from beyond our shores.

Cosy Fantasy

Warm worlds, found families, and just enough magic. Pure comfort reading.

Nature and the Environment

Books that reconnect you with the world outside your window.

Social History

Ordinary lives in extraordinary times. These are the stories that really stick.

A love of independents

Every great bookshop I've visited has given me something

I've spent years exploring brilliant independent bookshops across the UK - in The Cotswolds, the Lake District, Edinburgh, and the Peak District.

Each one is different, each one is special. But they all share something: a passion for books that spills off every shelf.

When I'm not in the bookshop

A little bit about me

Married with two extremely energetic Jack Russell terriers who bring exactly the right amount of chaos.

Plus one elderly cat who can only be described as Jekyll and Hyde. We're still trying to work out which side of him shows up on any given day.

We'd love to meet you

Come in. Find a book. Stay a while.

You'll find us at 2 Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2LL.
We can't wait to welcome you.
